Installing Raspberry Pi OS Lite (64-bit)ĭownload and install the latest Raspberry Pi Imager (currently 1.7.1). If you are looking to build a router or NAS then you may want to look at hardware that is more suitable for these jobs. This is common in tech, the “best” solution doesn’t always capture the most mindshare. You could use Balena Etcher if already installed but Raspberry Pi Imager is much nicer and far smaller (350 KB vs almost 90 MB).Ī Raspberry Pi may not be the best hardware technically but it does have a great community and there is value in using the most popular choice due to the level of support and documentation available. I’ll also take a brief tour of some of the new updates and show how to backup and shrink your SD card image. Here I’ll show how to setup a headless (lite) Pi 4B with 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS using Raspberry Pi Imager on Ubuntu LTS. It’s almost 10 years since the Pi was first released on (although the blog has been around longer) and we now have a lot of choice for hardware and software. Here’s how to set up a headless unit using Raspberry Pi Imager. The long-awaited 64-bit version of Raspberry Pi OS is out, joining the 32-bit and legacy options. If anyone has had success with contabo or another "cheap provider" (Not Azure or AWS), please let me know.☰ Menu Getting Started with 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS Bullseye and Raspberry Pi Imager I will investigate if I can install Wireguard on a Contabo VPS server. At my office I don't even have a generator, and for that price. I could run one of those and put Wireguard on it. I will try Wireguard and I saw some very cheap Cloud VPS's at Contabo. And I even had to configure a cloud VPN because the OpenVPN at my office was not compatible. I was focused on 64Bit just becasue of OpenVPN and that I have such a server at the office. I don't see other advantage on 64Bit OS other than the multicore and a faster processing. When I worked with the 64Bit OS I had to do lots of configurations. I am working with 32Bit OS, and it was even more comfortable because it has an Image with everything installed on it. At the end the project has much delay and in the meanwhile I am using Anydesk to connect and do some testing.
